Review: Popcorn Shed Gourmet Popcorn
Popcorn is one of my favourite snacks. In fact, I have to avoid buying it too often as I find it hard not to eat it all in one go, so I was excited when Popcorn Shed got in touch offering me the chance to try their range of gourmet popcorn snacks and I was even more excited to discover they have a vegan range!
Popcorn Shed is the UK’s first super-premium gourmet popcorn brand. offering a range of sweet and savoury flavours. Their signature is to add texture to their popcorn by including chunks of nuts, chocolate and dried fruit to maximise taste and enhance ‘mouth feel’.
Rather than using the industry-standard spray on and powder coating techniques employed by the majority of popcorn brands, Popcorn Shed uses an artisan cooking process which involves the popcorn being tumbled in fresh caramel before being scattered with melted chocolate, nuts and dried fruit to produce a deeper, richer flavour and texture.
I was sent a generous selection of popcorn to try including sweet, savoury and vegan products for review. See my thoughts below.
MiniPop! (vegan, gluten-free)
The MiniPop! range from Popcorn Shed offers something a bit special. Described as ‘the featherweight champion boxer of the popcorn world’ – MiniPop is made from an ancient grain which produces dainty, small popcorn roughly half the size of regular popcorn.
Japanese hulless popcorn is used for this product. It is an older variety of corn grown with pure heirloom, non-hybrid popcorn seeds. The grain has smaller kernels, about half the size of regular popcorn which means more disintegrates when being chewed, leaving less uncomfortable bits left over.
Flavours available are
- Sweet & Salty – my favourite balance combo of sugar and salt
- Sea Salt – a simple sprinkle of sea salt for a satisfying snack
- Salt & Vinegar – a British classic, light and zingy
- White Truffle – a luxury snack with a fragrant truffle twist
- Toffee – my favourite, a sweet snack with a delightful butterscotch flavour, a real treat for any vegan!

Popcorn Shed believes that outstanding popcorn is hard to mass-produce, so we manufacture it in small batches that are made to order. Their gourmet range of classic style popcorn comes in a range of traditional and more modern combinations so it’s easy for everyone to find their favourite.
- Pop ‘N’ Choc – perfect for chocoholics, this flavour offers a double hit of chocolate alongside a smooth cocoa-infused caramel base
- Salted Caramel – an intense sea-salted caramel popcorn topped with velvety, creamy Belgian milk chocolate
- Pecan Pie – nutty, buttery, smooth caramel popcorn with pecans – I wish there was a vegan version of this one!
- Berry-licious – combine popcorn and fruit with this mix of raspberries and indulgent smooth rich dark chocolate
- Butterly Nuts – A delicious peanut butter caramel topped with peanut halves for an irresistible crunch
- Sweet Cheesus -A sweet-savoury twist on traditional popcorn this one combines real cheddar cheese with a sweet, buttery caramel Gourmet Popcorn.
- Say Cheese – This savoury option offers a rich, ripe and creamy mature cheddar popcorn flavour.
My family and I have really been enjoying the Popcorn Shed snacks. It is so unique to have a combination of popcorn and other treats such as chocolate and fruit, it really makes for an exciting taste sensation.
I have loved trying out the vegan range of MiniPop! Finding vegan popcorn can be so difficult as most of them are made with butter. The Popcorn Shed flavours are super tasty and importantly guilt-free!
I award the Popcorn Shed 5 out of 5 stars and look forward to seeing what flavour combinations they come up with next.
