Countdown To Christmas Yankee Candle Event

There are some signposts that Christmas is coming every year. A cold snap in the air is usually the first, the supermarkets start stocking festive treats, treating yourself to some new snuggly PJs and, of course, lighting a delicious Christmas candle and filling the whole house with a familiar fragrance of cookies, orange and spice or mulled wine.
Anyone who has been to my house knows that I have several Yankee candles (mostly in Christmas flavours) at various levels of usage throughout my home – including many votives from a Yankee advent calendar from last year (this year’s advent calendars look amazing by the way)! I am a HUGE fan. But I suffer from the age-old struggle – to burn or not to burn? I like to savour my Yankee candles to make them last for ages so I only occasionally burn them.
I was lucky enough to have been invited to the Yankee Candle Countdown to Christmas Press Day in London a couple of weeks ago to learn about this year’s festive range. It doesn’t take much to get me in a festive mood (I have my Christmas lights up all year round, after all), so when I spotted the fantastic festive window I couldn’t wait to see what awaited me.
There are 5 new Christmas fragrances that have launched: Twinkling Lights, Tree Farm Festival, Merry Berry, Letters To Santa & Christmas Eve Cocoa.
Twinkling Lights
This was the first new fragrance I experienced when walking into the venue – complete with its own tunnel of bright white Christmas lights, Twinkling Lights will surprise you with almond and peach top notes whilst the body of the scent is made up of milk, jasmine, frangipani accompanied by vanilla, sandalwood and cedarwood. Despite fruity tones, this is a woody aroma that is strangely reminiscent of fresh snow.
Tree Farm Festival
What is more festive than the smell of fresh pine? If this doesn’t have you hankering to put up your Christmas tree nothing will. Another woody aroma, you might have guessed that the main scent from this candle is pine needles, and you would be right, it’s the pine that hits you square in the nose but it also has notes of violet leaves, cedarwood, Gardenia, Magnolia, vetiver, sandalwood and musk.
Merry Berry
No, not the beloved cook! Although the Merry Berry fragrance does represent time spent baking all manner of festive goodies; think spices, fruit and cookie dough. Honeybell orange, zesty lemon and dried apricot are the top notes whereas sugar plum, raspberry and gooseberry make up the body of this scent with undertones of cookie, vanilla, tonka bean. This is a truly comforting aroma that will have you reaching for the recipe books.
Letters To Santa
This is another fruity scent, like Merry Berry, but Letters to Santa has both sweet and spicy notes. You can’t have Christmas without cinnamon and this candle has it in abundance alongside coconut, sandalwood, sugared musk with amber and praline to evoke the excitement of writing to Santa for both young and old.
Christmas Eve Cocoa
Does your family have a tradition of making a cup of hot cocoa on Christmas Eve? I have to admit my family is more about mulled wine, but, when I caught a whiff of the Christmas Eve Cocoa candle I knew it was going to be my favourite. Although I am not usually a chocolate person, this fragrance is not too strong with chocolate and combines cocoa with citrus, mint, marjoram, cloves, sandalwood, vanilla, florals, praline musk and patchouli. It has a lovely sweet but subtle smell that I find very comforting.
All of the candles are made from premium-grade paraffin wax that delivers a clean, consistent burn with a wick made from 100% natural fibres, rigorously tested for the best burn possible meaning you can enjoy them throughout the holiday period.
The new fragrances are available in a number of different sizes, from wax melts and votives to the original large jars that we know and love. You will also find them in a number of the Christmas gift sets combined with other delicious festive favourites.
Having been introduced to the lovely new candle range I was invited to take part in a Christmas cookie decorating workshop from the Biscuiteers who offer luxury hand-iced biscuits year-round. Although I wasn’t able to eat my biscuit (as it wasn’t vegan) the Biscuiteers do sell vegan biscuits (yippee!)
On the way out of the event, I was very happy to receive a goodie bag complete with a full-sized large Christmas Eve Cocoa candle – my favourite! And yes, I have brought myself to burn it for a few hours and the aroma is just delightful.
I can’t wait for Christmas, can you?
