Feeling Festive at the Moonpig Virtual Event!

I know it’s only October but I am already getting into the festive spirit! I am a HUGE Christmas lover and with the chill in the air and the darker evenings drawing in I can’t help but get excited for the festive season so when Moonpig got in touch asking if I would like to attend their Virtual Christmas Event I just couldn’t say no!

Moonpig makes it easy to make fabulous personalised cards to send to friends and family via their website and their app. The event was made up of three sections; an introduction to the Moonpig app, a Christmas flower arranging workshop and at the end of the evening we took part in making cocktails!

Jasper from Moonpig gave us a virtual tour of the app which I had spent some time exploring in advance of the session to familiarise myself with how it all worked. The app is intuitive to navigate their range of 10,000+ cards and makes finding and personalising the perfect card really easy and fun. You can see their Christmas collections here.

Choose your design and personalise by adding names and photos! Next, add your message inside the card and add finishing touches such as a note on the envelope such as ‘For 25th December’. You can craft the perfect Christmas card wherever, whenever, with just a couple of clicks. If you’re feeling generous then alongside your card you can choose from Moonpig’s huge range of gifts; from chocolates and flowers to personalised mugs and even marmite!!

The app has some really awesome features like the ability to take a photo of a handwritten message and add it to your card! Sadly this is only available on iOS (I am an android user!)at the moment but hopefully, this will be expanded upon soon. I also love that the app can remind you of upcoming special events and gives you the ability to schedule deliveries for future dates.

I have used the Moonpig to send 2 cards with flowers so far and I have another card poised to be sent off in late October for a friend’s birthday in November.

Get the Moonpig app here: https://www.moonpig.com/uk/download-moonpig-app/ and use the code APP20CA to get 20% off cards when ordering from the Moonpig App!

Next, we were treated to a floristry workshop with Roxanne from Moonpig who taught us how to create the perfect Christmas table centrepiece made from a festive bouquet of flowers that Moonpig had sent a couple of days before the event.

I have to admit I am not sure if my arrangement is very good but I had great fun making a mess with oasis, greenery and flowers including roses. No matter the occasion, a bouquet’s job is to cheer people up, make people feel calm and add positivity.

Lastly, we enjoyed a cocktail masterclass with Conor from Mix & Twist held the cocktail masterclass. Moonpig sells the vodka we used as part of their gift offering along with other spirits.

Moonpig supplied all the ingredients and tools for the session. We followed along making three different cocktails; a vodka garden, kiwi collins and a gingerbread espresso martini!

Vodka Garden:
  • Ingredients: 45ml Belvedere Vodka, 25ml lime juice, 25ml sugar syrup,  6-8 mint leaves, 25ml elderflower soda, 1-inch Cucumber slice.
  • Method: Muddle (crush/squish!) the cucumber in your glass, add the vodka, lime juice, sugar syrup, mint leaves and lots of ice! Stir. Top up with more ice and elderflower soda.
Kiwi Collins
  • Ingredients: 45ml Belvedere Vodka, half peeled kiwi, 25ml lemon juice, 25ml sugar syrup and soda top
  • Method: Muddle the kiwi in the bottom of your shaker. Add the vodka, lemon juice, sugar syrup and lots of ice! Shake well for 10 seconds and pour into glass. Top up with soda water, stir and add more kiwi, mint and/or lemon as a garnish.
Gingerbread Espresso Martini
  • Ingredients: 45ml Belvedere Vodka, 15ml Gingerbread syrup & 60ml Espresso
  • Method: Mix all ingredients together with ice in a cocktail shake, shake well and strain into your glass. Add coffee beans as a garnish!

Safe to say the cocktails were really fun to make and tasty to drink! My favourite was the Vodka Garden (although I didn’t use cucumber in my version because I hate it! Yuk!). I look forward to trying more festive cocktails closer to Christmas!

Overall I really enjoyed the Moonpig Christmas Virtual event and will certainly be looking to create personalised cards via their app in the future. With such a huge range and great features it really makes card sending a pleasure and not a chore.
