Getting Ready For Your Spring Clean In 2023

Are you getting ready for your spring clean? Waiting patiently for the days to come when you can throw the windows open and clean your house from top to bottom. There is something about spring that gives you energy and literally gives you a spring in your step. So use this new found energy and start getting ready for your spring clean with these tips and ideas to help you.

Start By Decluttering Whilst Getting Ready For Your Spring Clean

It is impossible to start your spring clean until you have decluttered. You need to be ruthless and get rid of anything that you haven’t used for a certain amount of time. If it hasn’t been used for a few months, either bin it, or send it to the charity shop. You could even offer it for free on a local Facebook page. Make sure you clearly label all of your donations in a box or bin bag. You do not want them to be thrown in the bin by accident.

If you have seasonal things like Christmas jumpers or holiday clothes, sort them out. You can separate them into plastic boxes with lids for easy storage or you can use those vacuum-packed bags. Vacuum-packed bags take up less space because even though you fill them up with things, they pack so small when you vacuum them closed.

Decluttering makes you feel so much more positive. Even before you have started the actual spring clean in your home.

You Don’t Need Expensive Cleaning Products

You can spend a lot of money on cleaning products, but you could also just as well by own brands. They all work the same and do the same job. Own brand cleaning products and cheaper versions of the expensive brands can save you £’s and £’s. The packaging looks a little less premium in the cheaper brand, but the contents are likely the same.

The Pink Stuff brand is a good brand, that people discovered a few years ago during Covid. It is affordable and it really does the job. You can buy some cleaners for as little as £1 from Poundland or some supermarkets.

Another way to save money on cleaning products is to use stuff that you have lying around the house. You can use bicarbonate soda to clean mildew from the bathroom or around window frames. You can also use it to deep clean your saucepans with a bit of washing liquid. White vinegar is another great product at home that you can use to get ready for your spring clean.

Don’t Forget The Carpets And Curtains

Your carpets will need a freshening up and cleaning after the winter. You will need to get deep into the carpet pile to get rid of all the dirt and dust. Hire a carpet cleaner or look into buying one that you can keep permanently. As the weather starts to get warmer, the carpets will dry a lot easier. Make sure you remove all of the furniture and give it a good vacuum before cleaning the whole carpet.

Your curtains might not look dirty but they are. You might want to change from winter curtains to summer curtains as well. So take down the old ones and wash them as per instructions, then store them until you want them again. Or put them back up ready for the spring. Washing them gets rid of damp smells from the windows as well as any cooked food smells that might be in the curtains.

Be Organised And Ready For Your Spring Clean

Before you start your spring clean, make a list so you know what you will be doing. Then as you do your chores, you can mark them off on your list. The more you clean, the more you will get through your list quicker. Also if you are buying things before your big spring clean, make sure you do it beforehand. It is no good going out to buy it on the morning of the big clean. You know you will get sidetracked and not get the cleaning done.

Organisation really is the key to the big clean.
