Manicure at the London College of Beauty Therapists Salon

Something I wish I had more time (and money) for is beauty treatments. Like most ladies, I love a good massage or manicure from time to time to keep me relaxed and well groomed. I was super happy to have been invited to the recent blogger party held by the London College of Beauty Therapists Salon – a school for those wanting to join the beauty profession based on  Great Marlborough Street site, near Oxford Circus.

On arrival I was welcomed by super friendly students and their supervisors and I was quick to accept a glass of bubbly and take a look around before heading over to a free student for my complimentary manicure. My therapist was Rebecca, a young lady who started off wanting to be a hair dresser but having done some work experience had decided that beauty was the way to go.

Rebecca told me about her course and aspirations as she shaped my nails and proceeded to give me a rather nice hand massage using a delightful raspberry lotion. Rebecca would like to eventually work in a spa, having developed a passion for skin care, after she completes her level 3 qualification.

Having finished the relaxing massage Rebecca went on to paint my nails in a vibrant shiny purple which I rather liked. Whilst doing so she told me about the London College of Beauty Therapists  and what makes it special – for her the most attractive element was the pace of the course, with the levels taking around 6 months to complete whereas at other schools it takes longer. There is also a keen focus on employment potential at the LCBT with an average rate of progress to further education or employment at 90%.

Rebecca and I went on to talk about our favourite beauty products, having found a shared interest in good quality exfoliators as well as sharing some common nail myths and care advice. I learnt that the LCBT salon offers great value treatments to the public, with them only paying for products as the student’s time goes towards their qualifications. With a fully body massage priced at £25 and a deluxe manicure for £15 for a student therapist I know where I will be going for my beauty sessions from now on!

Having finished my pamper session I thanked Rebecca for her insights and her manicure skills I was given a fabulous goodie bag to take home with my which contained many beauty products including: 2 Revlon nail varnishes, top coat, lip gloss and photo ready foundation, additionally a Sally Hanson mega shine varnish, some emery boards and a LCBT nail file.
