Wedding season is here and it gives wedding guests a reason to spend their cash on a new dress or tux, an Airbnb, and expensive drinks from the bar. But if the thought of you doing this in the future has your palms sweating, then we understand that finding the perfect cheap diamond engagement ring will just add to that stress.
The 4Cs
Understanding the 4Cs will help you shop for a cheap diamond engagement ring with a little more confidence. No wonder why Poundland sold 20,000 of its engagement rings. They did this within just one week of releasing the product right before Valentine’s day.
Cut
Quality and brilliance are the two most important factors in a diamond. There are four cut grades which are Ideal, Very Good, Good, and Poor. There will be a bigger sparkle if the cut grade is better. Sure, diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she will want a popular brilliant diamond. Sapphires, rubies, and emeralds are popular choices as well.
Clarity
Clarity is how many or how little inclusions are in a diamond. There will naturally be small marks inside of the diamond, which are natural. If these are visible to the naked eye, then the receiver may not like it as much as they should.
Colour
Diamonds have different colours. Some are clear and others are yellow. The grading scale starts with D and ends with Z. A diamond with a grade D has zero colours. It will look pure white, even to the gemologist who is inspecting it under a 10x magnification. However, the clearer the diamond, the more expensive it’s going to be.
Carat
Diamonds are weighed in carats. It also refers to how large the diamond looks. However, it’s not the only determination for size.
Size
You should never try to guess the size of the ring. You need to make sure the size is perfect or the whole proposal could be ruined. If it’s the wrong size then you will need to bring it back and spend even more money to get it resized. Sure, most jewelers will offer one free ring sizing, but each one is different. Additionally, returns and payments are also different from jeweler to jeweler, so make sure you know all of the details and policies before making your purchase.
Material
If you want a ring that is going to stand through the test of time, then consider platinum. This is one of the hardest materials that you can choose for a ring. It won’t wear down like other materials, such as white gold. However, silver should be avoided because it’s a much softer material that will wear more easily.
It may not be the easiest task to buy a cheap diamond engagement ring since you never know if it was ethically sourced. Diamonds are hard to trace back to their original origins and may not have been mined using ethical mining practices.
