Review: Coconut Bowls from Vie Gourmet

I have recently been working hard on reducing the amount of plastic in my home and generally be more environmentally friendly. This has included swapping the supermarket for farm shops and frequenting no-packaging stores.

Looking around my home there are still areas that I can improve upon, particularly in the kitchen so when I was offered the chance to review a set of four coconut bowls and 2 spoons from Vie Gourmet I was keen to give them ago.

These coconut bowls are 100% natural and are eco-friendly, they are handcrafted from reclaimed from real coconuts reclaimed after being discarded as waste. The coconuts are from sustainable sources in Thailand.

The coconuts and spoons are cut, cleaned and sanded before being polished with Coconut Oil. I love that the original shape of a real coconut is retained during turning so that each bowl is unique and natural with its own colour, shape, design, pattern, therefore, may have dents and imperfections.

These bowls can be used for all manner of meals, from smoothie bowls and salads to soups, curries, noodle dishes and pasta. I have used them mostly in the morning to enjoy my granola. I have found them to be sturdy and hard-wearing but easy to clean.

Each bowl has a diameter of 12-14cm and a height of 7-8cm. The spoons are 15cm in length. They hold a generous portion. The spoons are practical – the size is just right and the bowl of the spoon works well to scoop up the meal.

I really like my coconut bowls from Vie Gourmet. I think they are both attractive and practical. I also feel like they are a good option for anyone wanting to avoid buying less environmentally minded crockery, I am happy to award them 5 out of 5 stars.
