Review: Reusable bamboo straws from theotherstraw
I love trying out new products which are environmentally minded so when I was offered the chance to review Reusable bamboo straws from theotherstraw I jumped at the chance.
I have heard that 8 million tons of plastic being dumped into our oceans every year, our marine life is swallowing more plastic than ever before with plastic straws being one of the most picked up items during beach cleanups.
theotherstraw was born from a devotion to the ocean and eagerness to address plastic pollution. Since their launch in 2018 they have sold over 50,000 reusable bamboo straws and prevented over 4 million plastic straws from entering landfills, natural environments and oceans. Additionally, theotherstraw have amazingly educated over 12,000 businesses and individuals on the impacts of single-use plastics and supported over 45 beach cleanups.
If you want to start to be more environmentally minded and take up the battle against single-use plastic, reusable drinking straws are a very simple way to start. Theotherstraw bamboo straws are made from organic bamboo in Vietnam and are a great eco-friendly alternative to plastic straws. They are handmade, biodegradable, 100% natural, durable, reusable and importantly sustainable.
The bamboo straws come in a sustainable sip bag along with an eco-friendly cleaning brush made from 100% natural coconut fibre. The straws can be hand washed or popped in the dishwasher and reused hundreds of times.
Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants in the world, it absorbs carbon dioxide and releases up to 35% more oxygen than trees. After the bamboo is harvested, nearly every part of the bamboo plant is used to create some sort of sustainable production. Bamboo is grown organically. Unlike other crops, bamboo requires no fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides or other chemicals to help it grow.
I love using these bamboo straws, unlike previous bamboo staws that I have tried which have started breaking down quickly after use, these are sturdy which speaks to the quality of the bamboo used. I love that the straws are wide which allows you to draw up a decent amount of drink at one time. I also prefer the natural feel of bamboo to metal straws I also sometimes use.
I think theotherstraw is doing a great job producing top quality alternatives and working hard to increase awareness and reduce plastic pollution. I am happy to award their bamboo reusable straws 5 out of 5 stars.
