Review: Smuggler’s Soul facial Scrub from Lush

I was recently invited to a Father’s Day event at the Bromley Lush store where I got the chance to learn about the latest products in their masculine range. I was given a selection of goodies to take home with me including the Smuggler’s Soul Facial Scrub which amazingly enough uses not salt or sugar, but bamboo as its main exfoliating ingredient!

The Smuggler’s Soul range is a celebration of one ingredient, Sandalwood, which has a great musty masculine fragrance. I have to admit that I really love these dark and sumptuous notes in any perfumed product and often find myself using my husband’s fragrances which have these undertones, so I have taken it upon myself to review this for you!

The Smuggler’s Soul facial Scrub has buckets of smoky flavour from ethical, sustainable sourced sandalwood, which is often found being smuggled on the black market due to it’s value. Along with the rich scent of earthy wood tones the scrub uses cucumber infusions to cool and refresh the skin with bamboo granules removing dead and lack-luster skin cells on the face which may otherwise leave you skin looking dull and lifeless.

It also boasts a large number of oils and butters to nourish and support skin including Argan Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Organic Rose Hip Oil, Organic Shea Butter, Rosewood Oil, Sandalwood Oil, Madagascan Vetivert Oil, Tagetes Oil and Lemongrass Oil.

Using the Smuggler’s Soul facial Scrub is simple – take a small amount of the scrub in your hand, add water and simply massage the scrub on the face in circles to buff away dead skin cells, then rinse. Be sure to finish with a moisturiser to hydrate your fresh lovely skin.

I have never used a bamboo scrub myself and found the texture to be really pleasing – it’s not quite as granular as a salt or sugar scrub, however it really does feel like your skin is getting a thorough exfoliation despite the scrub not being too course.

Before using the Smuggler’s Soul facial Scrub from Lush my skin felt super grubby and I had a few dry patches on my forehead. After only one use of the scrub my skin felt soft and smooth with no dry skin on show. I also felt uplifted by the lovely sandalwood smoke and lemongrass zing in the fragrance. It has quickly become my favourite facial scrub and I plan on keeping it a part of my routine for as long as Lush produce it!
