Strawberry Oatmeal Dog Treats

I have three labradors and they can’t get enough treats. It’s well known that labradors are a super greedy breed and this is definitely true. I get through a couple of big bags of doggie biscuits a month which can be expensive. I have tried to make my own biscuits in the past but haven’t really found a recipe that works for me (easy, quick and cheap) as well as the dogs (tasty)!

This recipe is super speedy and easy, taking mere moments to mix up and then only 15 minutes to bake. It only has 4 ingredients and one of those is peanut butter which my dogs go nuts over – pun intended. So, if you have your very own furry friends, whip up a batch and you’ll be the favourite human in the house.

Ingredients/supplies:

  • 1 ¼ of cup oats
  • ⅓ cup of peanut butter (make sure it doesn’t contain xylitol which is toxic to dogs)
  • ½ cup of chopped strawberries
  • 2.4 inch paw print cookie cutter

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F/ 175°C
  2. Line a baking sheet using parchment paper.
  3. Put the oats in a food processor or high speed blender.
  4. Pop in the chopped strawberries and peanut butter, and pulse to form a solid dough. If it doesn’t come together place the mix into a bowl and use a potato masher to mash it to the right consistency.
  5. When you’re happy with the dough, roll it out on a clean, flat surface.
  6. With your paw print cookie cutter cut out your biscuit shapes and pop onto a baking sheet.
  7. Place in your pre-heated over and bake for 15 minutes.
  8. Remove the biscuits from the oven, place onto a baking rack and leave to cool.
  9. Your treats can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks (not that they will last that long!)
