Things to do after lockdown

Are you excited at the prospect of being able to see more people and do more things once we’re on the roadmap to the end of lockdown? I sure am. There are so many things that I used to take for granted before the Coronavirus came along and I can’t wait to be able to enjoy them once again.
Most of the things on my ‘post lockdown to do list’ involve seeing more of the people I care about, so to help me with this post I asked a few of them what would be going on their list for when the world has started getting back to normal, these are their response.
Going on Holiday
It’s not really a suprise that most of my friends can’t wait to get out and explore the world again. From sunning themselves with cocktails on a beach to rampaging around a city seeing everything they possibly can my friends are all travel fiends and majorly feeling the wanderlust blues right now. My last holiday abroad was a Safari back in 2019 with my sister which was FANTASTIC and I too can’t wait to jump on a plane and get to see the world and its wonders.
Theatre/ Museums/ Galleries/ Cinemas
As well as a thirst for globetrotting my friends love culture in any form; plays and musicals, museums, galleries, the big old silver screen.. pretty much in any way shape or form my pals love learning and experiencing culture. My friend Karen said “book all the theatre tickets I can get my hands on” and I don’t blame her. There are some fantastic plays in London opening soon and producers have pulled out all the stops to get audiences back in seats – if you binged The Crown during lockdown, Emma Corrin (Princess Diana) is making her West End debut in Anna X, and Constellations has an amazing cast including Zoë Wanamaker and Chris O’Dowd. ! I think it is really important that when life goes back to normal we all do our part to support the struggling arts and book those tickets!
Live Events
We were totally bummed when not one, but two concerts we had tickets for were cancelled several times during the last 12 months. My family have tickets to both Queen and Elton John which we had been really excited to go to. SIGH. The good news is that they have only been postponed so we still have them to look forward to in the future. As well as missing live music my boyfriend is a huge wrestling fan and would usually enjoy attending several events each year, of course that has not happened in the last 12 months. Whether it’s cheering your favourite wrestler around the squared circle or enjoying Autumn Internationals Hospitality at the Rugby my friends are looking forward to getting to go to live events once more.
Eating Out
The last time I gathered my group of girls together was to celebrate Galentine’s Day 2020. I convinced them all to join me in having a lavish vegan lunch at Redemption in Shoreditch. Since that day, sadly, we have only had takeaways to enjoy separately and I know that we’re all excited at the prospect of being able to enjoy our favourite eateries or to while away the day sitting at a cafe sipping a coffee watching people go by.
Pampering/ Self Care/ Shopping
When was the last time we were able to go to the Spa? To freely go shopping for some new clothes or even get a decent hair cut? I know I am in dire need of a trim! I know one of the first things I am going to insist upon is for my friends to come out to a spa day with me – who can resist a good facial, massage and sauna combination or a trip to LipoTherapeia for cellulite treatments? I only hope we will be able to find a date at our favourite spa! My sister Nikki misses the days when she could simply browse the shops, whereas Karen misses being able to shop for plants at Columbia Road market.
Have Parties
In the last 12 months, my sister and one of my friends have bought a new house and have been unable to hold a housewarming party. Of course, we’ve also all had birthdays spent in isolation or only with our households. I was lucky that I was able to celebrate my birthday last year with my friends (in person) as it was in August when restrictions were a little looser, so we enjoyed afternoon tea in my garden. I really look forward to being able to visit the new houses and celebrate milestones with my friends again.
